Hogwarts Superman - Chapter 110 [The Script and Merlin's Gaze]
Cree looked at Ginny, who was still crying—soon after, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall, and even the four house heads, Snape, Flitwick, and Sprout, all arrived at the hospital wing.
"Hermione has been petrified!" Cree explained to Dumbledore and the others.
Professor McGonagall said to everyone, "In my professional career, this is the number one major event."
"Cree, can you tell me what happened?" Dumbledore asked.
"The legendary Chamber of Secrets has been opened, and the monster inside attacked Hermione, just like what happened fifty years ago!" Cree answered simply.
"Merlin's beard!" Professor Flitwick looked a little horrified.
Professor McGonagall had a serious expression, and Snape was also frowning. Only Professor Sprout seemed a little confused, still in a daze about the matter.
"Ginny, Cree, tell us everything you know!" Snape said sternly.
Ginny hugged Hermione and cried by the bed. Hermione's body was as stiff as a large stone.
"I'll tell you!" Cree said, "Ginny was controlled. That mysterious heir used her to open the Chamber of Secrets. Hermione was attacked by the monster in the Chamber. When I found her, Hermione was already like this. The location of the Chamber of Secrets should be in the girls' bathroom—in that place between the second and third floors, near Lockhart's office."
Several professors went to the bathroom to take a look, but no one had Parseltongue, so no one could open it—perhaps Dumbledore could open the Chamber, but he still pretended that he couldn't do anything.
In the end, the professors discussed and decided to completely seal off this corridor, prohibiting anyone from entering or leaving.
That night, Ginny and Cree stayed with the petrified Hermione all night. When it dawned, Ginny fell asleep by the bed. Cree also placed Ginny on an empty bed next to her and left the ward.
In the morning, Dumbledore called Cree to his office.
"You are growing too fast!" Dumbledore said bluntly, "I feel a magic as great as the ocean in you!"
"You could have prevented Hermione from being hurt!" Cree didn't respond but asked directly, "Why didn't you stop that guy?"
"Actually, I already stopped him. You should have guessed it!" Dumbledore could only answer directly when he saw that Cree was not easily fooled.
Cree instantly understood that Hermione must have directly looked at the Basilisk, but because Dumbledore intervened, Hermione was changed from [direct death] to [petrification].
So that's how it is… So, no one died in the original story for a whole year, and it was all a pre-set "script." After all, the old codger just wanted to cultivate Harry Potter and didn't really want that thing to come out and kill people.
Hermione and Ginny opening the Chamber of Secrets this time was outside the plan of the script. Dumbledore reducing Hermione's injury by one level was already doing right by everyone.
"Okay! I'll take the blame!" Cree sat down and took a handful of candy—thank goodness it was frog-shaped chocolate candy and not cockroach-shaped…
"Your magic value should be around 100,000 now, right?!" Dumbledore asked.
"One hundred thousand and eight thousand… It is estimated that it will break through 110,000 by Halloween, which is equivalent to eleven, your current state." Cree said here, his eyes turned, and he asked, "Headmaster, I want to confirm with you, what is your current magic value?"
"If you have to ask, then I can only say that it is actually similar to yours now." Dumbledore suddenly released the suppression on his body, and Cree sensed that there were about 200,000 magic value.
"In fact, after exceeding 10,000, the magic value does not represent strength or weakness, but more of a reference value. Just like you think, 10,000 is actually a threshold. Below the threshold, no matter how strong it is, it is meaningless. Above the threshold, the number loses its meaning," Dumbledore explained.
"I have some guesses, but I'm not here for this purpose this time. I want to ask, how should Hermione's matter be resolved?" Cree asked.
"The petrification curse can be removed with Mandrakes, you should know that," Dumbledore explained.
"What if I buy Mandrakes from outside?" Cree said.
"What do you think?" Dumbledore looked at Cree playfully.
Cree immediately had a "damn it" in his heart!
Sure enough! The reason why Herbology teacher Sprout bought Mandrakes in advance and prepared to plant them was because Dumbledore knew in advance that petrification would happen!
If you reason like this, I'm afraid the Mandrakes outside will have no effect at all—the Mandrakes that Professor Sprout obtained are definitely a rare special variety!
"So, Hermione can only lie in bed and wait for the Mandrakes to mature this school year?" Cree asked, "Isn't there any special way?"
"The antidote spell—a powerful enough antidote spell can temporarily restore Hermione to normal from her current state…"
"What does [temporary] mean?" Cree had a bad feeling.
"When the magic is exhausted, Hermione will be petrified again—like a clockwork toy!" Dumbledore explained.
"Shit!" Cree cursed, "Next time you write a script, can you take me and Hermione out of it?"
"I can only arrange the story, but once the actors appear, I can no longer interfere… unless the actors leave the stage," Dumbledore suddenly smiled, "I am just a scene setter, not a puppet king."
"Why do you value Harry Potter so much?" Cree asked suspiciously, "It seems that the protagonist of this script is Harry, isn't it?"
"I once asked Peeves this question, do you know what he told me?"
"What?" Cree asked.
"Peeves said: You can read a book called 'The Story of a Monkey', which is an Eastern mythology story," Dumbledore said.
Cree pondered—the story of a monkey is actually 'Journey to the West'. He understood a little now—in fact, Harry Potter and Voldemort… these two are the so-called [chosen ones]. Everyone has to accompany them in acting. If they act well, there is no reward, but if they don't act well, there may be some inexplicable punishments.
"Then how do you determine that Harry is that monkey? What if he's not at all?" Cree asked.
"Because Merlin is watching Harry!" Dumbledore said, and then stopped talking.
Cree understood a little. To a certain extent, he could sense Merlin's will. Cree could also sense the will belonging to [magic]. He turned and left the office.
