American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#42 - Ina's business philosophy [Part 1]

Nick Fury walked out of the police station with a dark face, hurriedly got into his car, and then slammed the door shut in full view of everyone.

"Drive," Nick Fury said.

"Yes, sir." Phil Coulson, sitting in the driver's seat, looked very serious, his face unusually devoid of his signature smile, and started the car expressionlessly.

"Laugh if you want, I know this is embarrassing." Nick Fury glanced at Phil Coulson's feigned seriousness in the rearview mirror and snorted coldly. Since becoming the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., this was the first time he had been taken to the police station for questioning as a criminal. Unsurprisingly, he was going to be famous in the circle.

Hide it?

Nick Fury rubbed his forehead with a headache. Since he had them bring him out, it was already difficult to hide. He could already foresee the socially awkward situations he might face in the future.

"Oh, I heard that Nick, you were arrested as a criminal for trespassing?"

Just thinking about that greeting from acquaintances made Nick Fury want to curse "little bastard" again!

"I thought you were having a good time chatting." Phil Coulson firmly suppressed the smile on his face and replied without changing his expression.

"We were having a great time chatting." Nick Fury leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, and gave a reply to avoid seeing and getting annoyed. "Although there were some twists and turns, he didn't reject my proposal in the end."

"Then?" Phil Coulson started to say something, but stopped himself, hesitating to ask his question. He originally wanted to ask, "Then why were you taken away from his villa by the police?"

Phil Coulson was very curious about this question, so curious that his heart was itching. Even those lower-level agents wouldn't be taken to the police station for messing up a mission, right? Wouldn't that be too embarrassing for the organization?

"I know what you want to ask, Agent Coulson." Nick Fury's voice was very calm. "You can treat it as an accident that no one wanted to see happen."

"Okay, then regarding Luke Field..." Phil Coulson understood and stopped pursuing the matter. He was afraid that if he continued to ask, his days at S.H.I.E.L.D. would be difficult.

"You're in charge of contacting him first." Nick Fury casually assigned a task.

"But I'm currently in charge of the big shot." The big shot Phil Coulson was referring to was Tony Stark. After all, he was initially sent by S.H.I.E.L.D. to contact Tony and Pepper Potts. Logically speaking, he should be the one to continue the contact.

"The capable ones do more work. I have other arrangements for Stark." Nick Fury insisted.

"Alright, you're the boss, you decide." Phil Coulson shrugged. "What do I need to pay attention to? He wouldn't be more difficult than the big shot, right?"

"Him? A very clever little bastard." Nick Fury closed his eyes again. "Don't let him catch you with any leverage. He's very good at using the rules to embarrass you. Just like me today."

...

A S.H.I.E.L.D. island training base.

A huge transport helicopter slowly landed on the tarmac. The rear hatch opened, and Snoke jumped down with three soldiers carrying a large metal box. Then Luke and Ina stepped down one by one. Behind them were two very powerful-looking transport vehicles.

"Welcome, Mr. Field and Ms. Sandra." Phil Coulson, with a shiny bald head, braved the wind to greet them. "I'm Phil Coulson, the S.H.I.E.L.D. representative responsible for communicating with you."

"Mr. Coulson." Ina Sandra shook the hand Coulson offered.

"We have intelligence that Hebron Industries has technology similar to Stark's Iron Man armor." Phil Coulson looked at the two with probing eyes.

"The intelligence is correct." Ina Sandra was clearly the person in charge this time.

After the greetings, they all got into the car and arrived at the training ground.

"Want to experience Tony's Iron Man armor?" Ina Sandra looked at the soldiers lined up on the field, waved her hand, and activated the two cargo items in the transport vehicle behind. Under everyone's amazed gazes, two iron giants more than three meters tall were walking towards them in the training ground.

"Looks a bit like Iron Monger?" Phil Coulson looked at the large body that required him to look up to see completely, shielding his eyes with his hand, and exclaimed.

"It's different from Iron Monger's crude and shoddy goods. Hebron Industries' mechanical products and weapons have a good reputation." Ina Sandra corrected Phil Coulson's words. She had to prevent anything that could affect Hebron's reputation in advance.

Crude and shoddy?

Phil Coulson couldn't help but laugh when he heard this. He didn't think that Iron Monger, who could repeatedly beat up Tony Stark in Iron Man armor, was anything crude and shoddy. But he wouldn't refute Ina's words.

"Can I arrange for someone to experience it?" Phil Coulson asked tentatively.

"Of course. But it doesn't carry any weapons. If you need to install weapons, you can state your requirements." Ina Sandra pulled Luke back a step, signaling Phil to go ahead.

So for the next hour, everyone present watched the two huge metal giants doing various movements back and forth in the training ground, as well as simple physical attacks and corresponding protection tests. Phil Coulson was very satisfied with the results. If weapon systems were loaded, these two big guys would be unstoppable killing machines.

He naturally also transmitted the test video to his director, and Nick Fury was also very satisfied with it. So the two then entered the main topic.

"Give me a price, Ms. Sandra." Phil Coulson, who had obtained high authority from his director, directly asked Luke and Ina to start quoting.

"540 million US dollars for the bare machine." Ina Sandra's beautiful face showed a charming smile.

As a result, the smile on Phil Coulson's face became a little stiff.

"540 million? US dollars?" Phil Coulson repeated Ina's quote.

"Bare machine! If you need to modify and load weapon modules, you will have to increase the cost depending on the situation." Ina Sandra turned a blind eye to Phil Coulson's petrified expression, counting the expenses that made Phil's scalp tingle one by one with her slender and transparent fingers: "The annual maintenance cost is at least 30 million."

"30 million?" Phil was a little stunned.

"Per unit!" Ina Sandra corrected.

"This price is too expensive, Ms. Sandra." Phil Coulson looked at Luke for help, but Luke didn't look at him at all, his eyes fixed on the two huge metal giants on the field, as if there was something attracting him on them.

"It's not expensive at all, Agent Coulson. Do you know that the cost of materials alone requires at least close to 300 million US dollars? We are already offering discounted prices!"
