Became good friends with the Boy Who Lived
Chapter 51 Summer Vacation
The summer vacation was very enjoyable for Aris. He wrote letters to his best friends every week and received many replies. Every weekend, Professor Dumbledore would come over to have dinner with the Greenes. The interaction with Ariana seemed to make Professor Dumbledore decades younger. People who didn't know the inside story would really think that Professor Dumbledore and Ariana were grandfather and granddaughter.
A week after the holiday, Aris received a call from Hermione. Seeing Selina's aunt-like smile, Aris was speechless. When Selina asked Aris what kind of girl that was in a gossipy tone, Aris said helplessly: "Mom, I'm only twelve years old this year."
On a sunny day, Aries visited the Granger family who lived in the suburbs of London. Both Granger and his wife worked as dentists and had their own private clinic.
The Grangers' house was also decorated in a fresh and elegant style. Mrs. Granger was very amiable and greeted Aesop warmly. Mr. Granger had the appearance of a refined middle-aged man, but when he saw Aesop, his eyes looked a little strange, as if he was accusing them: "I have cultivated flowers for more than ten years, and they are going to be taken away by such a fool?"
More than half a month after the summer vacation, one day Jim told his family that he would go to No. 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey, to have dinner with the family at the invitation of the family.
Aries was a little stunned when he heard the news. Could this address be the one where Harry was staying?
When the Greene family of four arrived at the door of that house, Edwards rang the doorbell. A fat man in a suit opened the door. Next to him was a fat man in a suit. Edwards completely confirmed his guess that this was the Dursleys' house.
The Dursleys spoke hypocritically with compliments, Jim also greeted them, after the Greene family of four entered the Dursleys' house, the fat boy Dudley diligently helped everyone hang up their coats, Selina brought Ariana to greet the hostess of the house, the hypocritical atmosphere of the Dursleys' house made Aris feel a little uncomfortable.
Ariana was attracted by the big cake prepared by the hostess of the Dursley family. Taking advantage of the gap in their conversation, Aries said, "Mr. Dursley, I heard that my classmate Mr. Potter is staying with you. Can I go and have a chat with him?"
This sentence made the hypocritical atmosphere here suddenly stagnate. A strange clanging sound was heard upstairs, and a figure rushed down regardless of anything. It was Harry, who had lost some weight. "Eris!" Harry shouted excitedly and ran over to give Edward a big hug.
Aries patted Harry's back gently and said faintly, "Let me go, Mr. Potter. You've embarrassed me."
Harry quickly let go of Edwards. The atmosphere was a little awkward. The fat boy Dudley shrank back, and the Dursleys looked a little unnatural.
Aris broke the silence: "Don't worry, Mr. Dursley, my parents and sister are all authentic British gentlemen and ladies, just like you."
The Dursleys' expressions finally eased a little, and Edwards said, "You guys can chat about your own things. If possible, I want to catch up with my classmates."
"Of course you can," said Mr. Dursley gruffly. "Harry, entertain your guests."
"If you have anything to say, go to your bedroom." Aeris whispered to Harry, and then followed Harry to Harry's bedroom. As soon as he opened the door, a creature with big ears like bat wings, a big head, two big yellow eyes, a long nose, and a very thin body was jumping happily on Harry's bed.
"That's incredible, Harry," Aris teased, "you actually have a house-elf in your home?"
"No...no...I don't even know what it is..." Noticing the house-elf's resentful look, Harry realized that he seemed to have said something wrong.
"So," Aeris asked, staring at the house-elf, "who are you?"
The house-elf jumped down from the bed, bowed deeply, and said in a shrill voice: "My name is Dobby, sir, it's an honor to meet you, and you, Mr. Harry Potter!"
"Excuse me," said Harry, "this may be rude, but Aris is my first guest of the summer vacation, and I may not be in the mood to entertain a house-elf..."
"Oh~ Oh~" Dobby burst into tears suddenly. Harry was a little overwhelmed. Aeris patted Harry on the shoulder and said, "It's okay. Some house-elves are just sentimental."
Dobby sobbed and said, "Harry Potter, you don't have to feel rude. It's just that Dobby has never met a wizard who is willing to talk to Dobby on an equal footing."
Just as Harry was about to say something, Aries spoke up first, "Mr. Dobby, you really shouldn't appear in this... non-magical world. If those people downstairs who can't accept magic see you, it might cause panic. So, tell me your purpose. Why do you want to risk exposing the wizarding world to see Harry?"
Dobby shrank back and said hesitantly, "This... This... This is really... difficult to say... Gentlemen..."
"Why don't you sit down and talk..." Harry suggested.
"Oh~ Oh~" Dobby started crying again.
Aeris and Harry looked at each other, and Harry whispered, "He is indeed a bit sentimental..."
When Dobby had cried enough, he wiped his nose with his torn pillowcase-like clothes, and made a dull whistle sound. He choked and said, "Dobby has never met a wizard who asked Dobby if he wanted to sit down. Dobby knew that Harry Potter was noble, but Dobby never thought that Harry Potter would be so great..."
Harry scratched his head a little embarrassedly and asked Aris beside him: "Is it talking about me?"
Aris cleared his throat and said, "Mr. Dobby, there's no need to be polite. Let's get down to business!"
"And you, noble sir," Dobby said, "no wizard has ever called Dobby sir. The people around Harry Potter are as great as Harry Potter himself..."
Aeris and Harry looked at each other again, both looking somewhat helpless.
Dobby sat on Harry's bed. Aeris and Harry each found a stool and sat opposite Dobby. Dobby looked serious and said in a shrill voice, "Dobby is here to remind Harry Potter. Dobby cannot let Harry Potter be in any danger. Harry Potter is too important. So Dobby has to tell Harry Potter that Hogwarts is very dangerous this year. Very, very terrible things will happen. Harry Potter ~cannot~ go~back~to~Hogwarts~this year~"
"You... ask me not to go back to Hogwarts? This is impossible... absolutely impossible... What kind of danger will there be? What terrible thing will happen?" Harry asked impatiently, his face full of resistance.
"I...can't...say..." Dobby looked painful. He jumped off the bed and rushed towards a cabinet.
"This is an order, Dobby!" Aeris said sternly. "You are not allowed to punish yourself here."
Dobby's figure came to an abrupt stop, as if he was restrained by some force.
"I can't not go back to Hogwarts, Dobby," Harry said, "I don't belong here, I belong to your world - the wizarding world. Only in Hogwarts will I have friends..." Harry glanced at Aris and said in a serious tone.
"Harry Potter has made a bunch of unreliable friends," Dobby said cunningly after recovering from his shock. "It's been so long since the summer vacation, and they haven't written a single letter to Harry Potter..."
"Didn't you get the letter I wrote to you?" Archer asked Harry.
Harry stared at Dobby suspiciously. After a long while, he slowly asked, "My friends didn't write to me. How did you know?"
Dobby was stunned for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed. He took out a stack of letters and said embarrassedly: "Dobby thought that as long as Harry Potter believed that his friends didn't care about him, he wouldn't always think about returning to Hogwarts..."
Harry stared at Dobby in disbelief. His body trembled slightly at Dobby's anger. He said, "You...you...you...you...actually...actually..."
"How dare you intercept your letter," Aris finished for Harry. "As a house-elf, you actually intercepted the wizard's letters. Where are your duties and ethics as a house-elf, Mr. Dobby!"
"Give me those letters... now..." Harry said through gritted teeth.
"No..." Dobby exclaimed. Harry wanted to go over and snatch the letters from Dobby, but Dobby dodged nimbly. Aris also wanted to catch Dobby, but Dobby was as slippery as a loach. He opened the door and rushed downstairs.
Harry looked terrified and didn't care about Edwards. He also rushed after Dobby. Edwards followed closely behind him. They chased Dobby all the way to the restaurant. Mr. Dursley was chatting and laughing with Jim in the living room. Mrs. Dursley was also chatting enthusiastically with Selina. Ariana was guarding Selina.
Dobby hid on top of a cupboard in the kitchen. He snapped his fingers, and the huge cake that Mrs. Dursley had carefully prepared floated up. Harry quickly whispered to Dobby, "Dobby... please... don't..."
Dobby also pleaded in a low voice: "Harry Potter must promise Dobby not to return to Hogwarts..."
Harry answered helplessly: "I can't do that. Hogwarts is my home..."
Two lines of tears flowed from Dobby's big eyes, and he said painfully: "Then Dobby had no choice... All this is for... Harry Potter..."
With a "pop", Dobby snapped his fingers and the cake fell to the center of the kitchen. Dobby must have used some magical means to make the cake explode like a bomb and splatter everywhere. With a loud "crack", Dobby disappeared.
Mr. Dursley rushed from the living room to the kitchen, followed by Mrs. Dursley, Jim and Selina, and finally Ariana, who looked curious.
Mr. Dursley saw the messy kitchen and looked at Harry with murderous eyes. Harry was also in a mess at the moment, with cream splashed all over his body. However, Edwards was clean. When he saw the big cake fall, Edwards hid behind Harry unkindly.
With guests present, Mr. Dursley couldn't get angry, so he just kept apologizing to Jim. Jim waved his hand and said he didn't mind. At this time, an owl flew in through the open window and threw a letter at Harry. Harry quickly grabbed it. Aris whispered, "Wait a minute."
Aries walked up to Mr. Dursley and said, "Mr. Dursley, there will definitely be deeper cooperation between your company and my father's company. There is no doubt about that. Mr. Potter and I are very good friends. I would like to invite Mr. Potter to stay at my home for a while. As my father's business partner, you will definitely not refuse this small request of mine, right?"
Mr. Dursley glanced at Harry suspiciously. Harry stared at Edwards in a daze. When he came to his senses, he could not hide his inner ecstasy at all and looked at his uncle expectantly.
"Oh! Of course!" Mr. Dursley said gruffly, "Boy, be polite when you're a guest at someone's house. Don't let them think you're uneducated!" Mr. Dursley told Harry as softly as possible.
Harry nodded hurriedly, went to the bedroom to change his cream-stained clothes, and hurried back downstairs, as if he was afraid that Aeris would abandon him.
The kitchen was in such a mess because of Dobby that it was impossible to have a pleasant meal together. Harry's luggage was locked in a compartment. Aries asked Mr. Dursley for the key. Harry packed his luggage in a hurry and put it in the trunk of Jim's car with Aries. Mr. Dursley kept apologizing to Jim. Aries also found a way to get the key to the lock on Hedwig's cage.
After saying goodbye to the Dursleys, Jim started the car and took the Greene family and Harry away as the Dursleys watched. On the way, Harry released Hedwig, who had been locked in a cage.
Edwards and Harry sat in the back seat together. With the help of the street lights outside the car window, Harry took out the unknown letter. It was a warning letter from the Ministry of Magic, warning Harry not to use magic in front of "Muggles" again. Edwards and Harry exchanged glances, and seeing that Edwards was also confused, Harry did not ask anything.
After entering the city of London, Jim parked the car outside a restaurant where the Greene family and the somewhat reserved Harry had dinner.
After returning to the Greene's house, Aries arranged the stunned Harry into the guest bedroom next to his bedroom. After saying good night to each other, the day came to an end.
Jim and Selina were both very kind to Harry and treated him as their second son. Ariana also liked Harry very much. After spending a few days at the Greene family, Harry seemed less restrained.
They didn't treat Harry as a stranger. After dinner, they would invite Harry to do housework together. Aries would recommend books in Jim's study to Harry and do homework with Harry in the study. Aries and Harry would take Ariana to the amusement park and the zoo together.
Another weekend came, and this day, Edward brought Harry to the Granger family in the suburbs of London. Hermione was very happy to see Harry. Edward invited Hermione to have dinner with him at the Granger family's house, and Mrs. Granger readily agreed, but Mr. Granger looked at Edward more and more strangely.
When Selina saw Hermione, her eyes lit up. She pulled Hermione to her side and asked her about her well-being and all sorts of questions, which seemed to make Hermione a little flattered.
Dinner was prepared with the joint efforts of everyone. Harry and Hermione also helped. When all the dishes were placed on the table, the doorbell rang. Ariana trotted over to open the door. "Ah, no..." Ariana's silvery voice rang, and Professor Dumbledore with silver hair and beard walked over holding Ariana's hand.
"Professor Dumbledore!?" Harry and Hermione both exclaimed in surprise.
"Good evening!" Professor Dumbledore greeted warmly, not at all surprised that Hermione and Harry were there.
The dinner was a great success. After the dessert, Professor Dumbledore handed three envelopes to Aries, Harry, and Hermione. He said gently, "These are the school supplies you need to prepare for next semester. I brought them here for you."
Aris opened his letter and glanced at it, then asked in confusion, "Professor, do we need so many extracurricular readings this semester?"
Professor Dumbledore was also quite helpless. It was the first time that Aries saw such an expression on Professor Dumbledore's face. Professor Dumbledore said, "This is what our new professor requires..." Professor Dumbledore seemed to be hesitant to speak.
Edwards knew better than to ask any more questions. After dinner, Jim dragged Professor Dumbledore to the living room to chat. Hermione was about to leave, but Edwards insisted on sending her home. "How can a gentleman let a lady go home alone?" Edwards teased Hermione.
Harry also went with Aries to send Hermione off, and the three of them agreed to go to Diagon Alley together to buy school supplies on Tuesday.
