I'm a hero in Marvel

Chapter 118 Frankness

In a hidden corner of the Marvel Universe, villain tycoon Dr. Victor von Doom is contemplating an upcoming meeting in his Latverian castle. Wearing his signature green cape, Dr. Doom stands in front of a huge window overlooking his kingdom. His mind is filled with mixed emotions about the future, especially with two people he believes have similar ambitions to his own - Jack Lee and Tony Stark.

“They think they are the saviors of the world,” Doom muttered, “but in reality, they are just pretentious people like me.”

At this moment, the gate of the castle was opened, and Li Jie and Tony Stark walked into the magnificent building at Doom's invitation. Li Jie was wearing a black combat suit with a cold smile on his face. Tony Stark was wearing his iconic red and gold steel armor, with his mask off, revealing his confident expression.

"Dr. Doom," Li Jie spoke first, his voice calm and firm, "You said you had something important to discuss. What is it?"

Doom turned around and glanced at the two men sharply. "Li Jie, Tony, I invited you here because I think it is necessary for us to have a frank conversation."

Tony raised his eyebrows and said with a hint of sarcasm: "Frank conversation? Doom, are you kidding? You have never been a frank person."

Doom smiled coldly, "Tony, it is precisely because we are not honest with each other that we need this conversation. The three of us are the smartest and most ambitious people in the world. We all want to change the world, but we have different means."

Li Jie nodded and looked at Doom sharply. "You are right. We all have our own plans and goals. But I don't think we are the same."

Doom walked to the center of the room, with his back to the scenery outside the window, and crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Li Jie, there is no essential difference between you and Tony. You both believe that you have the ability to control the world and change the fate of the world. The only difference between you is the method and approach."

Tony put his hands on his waist with a disdainful look on his face, "Dum, you mean we are all pretentious arrogant people? You included?"

Doom nodded. "That's right, Tony. I never deny my ambition and confidence. That's why I can understand your mentality. One of you relies on technology, one relies on force, and I rely on wisdom and magic. We are all the same kind."

Li Jie sneered, "Doom, your logic is too simple. The three of us have completely different beliefs and values. You will do anything for power, but Tony and I have our own bottom line."

There was a flash of anger in Dum's eyes. "Bottom line? Li Jie, your so-called bottom line is just an excuse to cover up your true intentions. You are all pursuing a false justice."

Tony's face turned serious. He took a step forward and looked Doom in the eye. "Doom, Li Jie and I are at least trying to protect this world. And you are just using all means to satisfy your own ambitions."

Doom remained unmoved and sneered, "Tony, do you think your so-called protection is so noble? Aren't the weapons and technologies you created also exacerbating the chaos in the world to some extent?"

Li Jie interrupted, "Doom, Tony's technology is at least for the purpose of protecting innocent people. And you? All your actions are for your own benefit."

Doom's eyes became even colder. "Li Jie, Tony, do you really think you are nobler than me? Your actions are just another form of selfishness. You are all using your power to shape a world that suits your ideals."

Tony couldn't help but clench his fists. "Doom, you will never understand the true spirit of a hero. We are not doing this for our own benefit, but for those innocent people."

Doom sneered and shook his head. "Heroism? That's just a disguise you use to cover up your ambitions. You don't want to admit your true motives because it would make you look like me."

Li Jie's eyes flashed with anger. He took a step forward and looked directly at Dum. "Dum, you are wrong. We are not the same kind of people as you. We have our beliefs and principles, but you only have endless ambitions."

Doom's face turned gloomy. "Faith and principles? They are just excuses you use to comfort yourself. In the end, you will all find that only power can decide everything."

Tony sneered, "Doom, your power is based on fear and control. Our power comes from trust and cooperation."

Doom's eyes flashed with disdain. "Trust and cooperation? That's just an excuse you use to cover up your powerlessness. True power can only be achieved by controlling everything."

Li Jie said coldly, "Doom, you will never understand what true power is. It is not obtained through fear and control, but through faith and courage."

Doom's expression grew even darker. He turned and walked to the window, overlooking his kingdom. "You can continue to indulge in your fantasies, but in the end, you will find that only I can truly control this world."

Tony and Li Jie looked at each other, their hearts filled with mixed emotions. They knew that Doom's ambition and power should not be underestimated, but they also firmly believed in their own beliefs and principles.

"Doom, we won't let you succeed," Tony said firmly, "We will protect this world in our own way."

Doom turned around and smiled coldly, "Then let's wait and see whose method is more effective."

"Tony, long time no see."

Tony forced a smile, looking a little absent-minded. "Yeah, long time no see, Li Jie." He picked up the coffee cup and took a sip, trying to hide his inner anxiety.

Li Jie noticed Tony's uneasiness and asked with concern: "You look a little worried, what happened?"

Tony sighed, put down his coffee cup, folded his hands together, and whispered: "The company has encountered some problems recently, and I am a little undecided. You know, I have been relying on your advice."

Li Jie nodded and motioned Tony to continue.

"The company has an important project recently, but I don't know whether I should take it on." Tony's voice was filled with helplessness and confusion. "This project is very risky. If it fails, it may cause great losses to the company."

Li Jie pondered for a moment and asked, "Do you think this project has a chance of success?"

Tony frowned and thought for a while. "Yes, but the risk is also great. The key is that I don't know if I have enough confidence to take this risk."

Li Jie nodded, his eyes becoming deeper. "Tony, I think the key to this problem lies in your attitude. Your attitude towards this project determines whether you can succeed."

Tony looked at Li Jie in confusion, "My attitude?"

Li Jie nodded, his tone firm, "Yes, attitude. You have to ask yourself, do you really believe that you can do this project well? If you don't believe it yourself, how can you let others believe in you?"

Tony fell into deep thought. He knew that what Li Jie said made sense, but the doubts in his heart still remained.

At this moment, the door of the cafe was pushed open again, and a tall woman walked in. She was wearing a neat business suit, and her sharp eyes swept around, finally stopping at Tony and Li Jie's table. She walked straight over and stood in front of Tony.

"Tony, I heard you were here." The woman's voice was calm but firm.

Tony looked up and saw that the person coming was Emily, the company's vice president. He was a little surprised, "Emily, why are you here?"

Emily smiled coldly, "I heard you were thinking about that project, so I came to see if you were shirking your responsibilities."

Tony's expression turned a little ugly. "Emily, this is not shirking responsibility. I'm just weighing the pros and cons."

Emily said bluntly: "Tony, what the company needs now is a decisive leader, not an indecisive person. If you can't even make this decision, how can we trust you to lead the company out of the predicament?"

Tony was stung by Emily's words. He clenched his fists and tried to calm himself down. "Emily, I just want to make sure we don't make the wrong decision."

Emily sneered, "Wrong decision? Tony, any decision has risks, but a true leader will face these risks bravely instead of hesitating."

Li Jie looked at the tense atmosphere between the two and interrupted, "Emily, I think Tony just needs some time to think. He's not shirking his responsibilities."

Emily glanced at Li Jie and softened her tone a little, "Li Jie, I understand what you mean, but we don't have much time now. The market is changing very quickly, and we must make a decision as soon as possible."

Tony took a deep breath, struggling internally. He knew Emily had a point, but he still couldn't completely let go of his concerns.

At this moment, on the other side of the cafe, a young waiter accidentally knocked over a tray, and the cups and plates fell to the ground with a crisp cracking sound. Everyone's eyes were drawn to it, and the waiter turned pale and apologized in a panic.

Tony looked at the mess and suddenly felt enlightened. He stood up, walked to the waiter, and said softly, "It's okay. Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that we should learn from our mistakes."

The waiter looked at Tony gratefully and thanked him repeatedly.

Tony returned to the table, his eyes becoming firm. He looked at Emily and Li Jie and said firmly, "You are right. I can't hesitate any longer. We will take this project!"

There was a flash of surprise in Emily's eyes, but then she showed a satisfied smile, "Very good, Tony, this is the you I know."

Li Jie also smiled and nodded, "Tony, I believe you can succeed."

Tony looked at the two of them gratefully. "Thank you for your support. I will do my best and live up to your expectations."

Emily nodded, "Then let's go back and prepare. There is still a lot of work to do."

Tony and Li Jie stood up, and the three of them left the cafe together. The sun was still bright, shining on them, as if illuminating the way forward for their future.

In the company's conference room, Tony called all the senior managers together and announced the decision to take on the project. Everyone expressed their support and approval, and the entire conference room was filled with a positive atmosphere.

After the meeting, Tony stood alone in front of the office window, looking at the city scenery outside. His heart was full of fighting spirit and confidence, as if he saw hope for the future.

Li Jie walked into the office and patted Tony on the shoulder. "Tony, I believe you can succeed."

Tony turned around, smiled and nodded, "Thank you, Li Jie. Your words helped me regain my confidence."

Li Jie smiled and said, "Remember, attitude is everything. As long as you believe in yourself, nothing is impossible."

"Tony," Natasha Romanoff's voice sounded behind him, "are you sure you want to do this?"

Tony turned around and saw Natasha's deep eyes looking straight at him. He sighed and put down his glass, "I have no choice, Natasha. The Mandarin has threatened too many innocent lives. We need Doom's power."
