Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 60 The Missing Diary

When Salina passed the third floor, she discovered that a layer of water had accumulated on the ground at some point.

The floor tiles were covered by the water, and at first glance, they looked like a silver carpet illuminated by soft light. Sporadic spots of light danced on the water, and in one moment the color of the lime bricks was all covered by them, and in the next moment they became transparent, showing the original color of the floor tiles.

The air bubbles in the accumulated water burst in tiny waves, creating ripples that stirred the calm water surface. Under the illumination of the light, the ground showed dark reflections and shadows, and the ignored water marks were distributed on the stone brick surface like tiny scars, emitting a faint damp smell all around.

Salina followed the flow of water and soon reached the bathroom where Myrtle was.

Someone had turned on all the faucets in the bathroom, and streams of clear water poured out from the polished copper faucets like ribbons. Under the light, the water streams sparkled like a galaxy, blending with the reflections on the faucets, like strings of beads between reality and reflections.

In the white porcelain sink, the full water flow creates ripples, like melodious notes that surround the entire space. The water droplets splashing around are like white deer jumping under the light.

The bathroom was very quiet, with nothing but the sound of running water.

Salina looked around but couldn't find the diary.

Has it been picked up? Who could it be? Harry?

After turning all the faucets back on, Salina quickly walked towards the lounge.

The moonlight shines through the window onto the neatly-made bed. The tranquility in the dormitory is like a layer of silver frost, bringing peace to every corner. My roommates have all fallen asleep, and the gentle snoring and the subtle movement of turning over are the only melody in this quiet night.

Salina tiptoed to Ginny's bed. The curtains on her side were not drawn, and the moonlight softly enveloped her bed.

Ginny's sleeping face was peaceful, her long eyelashes trembling gently like butterfly wings, looking particularly slender and soft. Her cheeks were naturally healthy and rosy, and her lips were slightly parted, as if she was immersed in a sweet dream.

Her red hair spread on the pillow, shining like the sunshine in summer, and occasionally a few strands of hair brushed across her forehead, adding a bit of unintentional playfulness. In the quiet air in the room, Ginny's breathing was soft and rhythmic.

Sharina was relieved. It seemed that Ginny was not influenced by Riddle again.

As early as the second attack, Salina had found Ginny, and the two had a long talk. Ginny confessed to Salina that she had indeed seen Tom Riddle's diary, but she didn't know where it came from. The diary was already among the books when she sorted them for the first time.

It was she who petrified Lady Norris during the basilisk's first attack.

Although she was in a daze at that time, she also noticed the strangeness of the diary.

So she wanted to throw it away, but for some reason, every time she reacted, the diary came back, so she became nervous and mentally weak.

What overwhelmed her was the second attack of the basilisk. She was afraid that Penelope Clearwater was also hurt by her, but she had no memory of that, so she became more and more anxious.

Salina comforted Ginny, but when the two went to look for the diary, they couldn't find it.

I searched the dormitory thoroughly but found nothing, so I had to give up.

In order to avoid any sequelae for Ginny, Salina took her to see Dumbledore.

From that day on, Ginny completely broke free from Riddle's control and returned to normal.

Now it seems that the diary should not have returned to Ginny. I wonder if it fell into Harry's hands like in the plot.

Maybe I can go and test it tomorrow. If it's really with him, I can hand it over to Dumbledore.

As the night deepened, Salina's consciousness gradually blurred and she slowly fell asleep.

Meanwhile, in the boys' dormitory next door, Harry was watching a memory fragment that Riddle had deliberately misled him with.

After class the next day, Salina prepared to ask Harry about the diary.

When she got there, she happened to run into the three little ones talking to Hagrid, and then Neville came running over, breathlessly asking Harry and Ron to go back to the dormitory to check.

Salina thought to herself that something was wrong, and hurriedly followed them into Harry and the others' dormitory.

The room was in chaos, as if it had been ravaged by a tornado.

The bed was crumpled up, the pillows were lying limply on the ground, feathers were flying all over the sky, like some kind of ominous snow scene. The items on the desk were scattered all over the floor, and the feather pen rolled to the corner, telling the story of the desolation of this dormitory together with the broken ink bottle and scattered pages.

The portraits hanging on the wall also drooped, echoing the tilted bookshelves. The food residue and broken containers on the floor were intertwined, and the water stains and oil stains were like rivers on a map, winding and soaking the once warm floor. The window was half open, and a corner of the curtain was drooping, as if silently telling the disaster that happened here not long ago. All this quiet chaos seemed to be reconstructing a scene of fierce struggle that was unknown to the public.

Needless to say, the diary must have been stolen.

The three little ones began to discuss the murderer. The only thing that was certain was that the criminal must be in Gryffindor, because other houses should not know the password to the common room.

After helping to tidy up the dormitory, Salina began to pay special attention to the Gryffindor students.

But many days passed and no suspicious person was found.

Time passed quickly, and on a seemingly ordinary afternoon, Salina was called to the infirmary by Professor McGonagall. With her came Harry and Ron, who had just been brought back from the Quidditch field.

Professor McGonagall said with a worried look on her face: "I have to tell you that what is going to happen next may make you very sad."

Then, the three of them saw Hermione petrified on the bed in the infirmary.

"Oh! Merlin! Hermione..."

"how so?!"

Salina saw a small mirror on the bedside table next to her, and Harry also noticed it. He also found a torn page of a book in Hermione's hand, and the content on it was exactly the description of the basilisk.

Then several people were taken back to the Gryffindor common room. At the same time, Professor McGonagall issued a notice that from now on all students were not allowed to leave the common room at will, and had to be accompanied by a professor in class... and she expressed regret that if any accidents happened again, Hogwarts might have to close.

When Salina turned around, she saw Harry and Ron whispering to each other. It seemed that they were planning to go to Hagrid to ask him about it tonight.

They had invisibility cloaks, but Salina didn't. In order not to stimulate the professors' tense spirits, she didn't practice magic at night.

Through recent observations, the diary is definitely not in Gryffindor. No matter how cunning Riddle is, the little wizard under his control cannot be flawless.

So, the person who entered Harry's dormitory and took the diary might really be someone from another college. After all, although the lounge requires a password, if that person really wants to know, there is always a way.

Salina was going to stay by Ginny's side and not give Riddle any chance.
