The most powerful wizard in the magic world
Chapter 42 Unpredictable
On a gloomy evening, Gerling stood in front of Wolff's hut, and the shadows around him gradually approached like a tide. The hut was built of rough wood, and the roof was covered with moss, as if silently recording the traces of time. The breeze blew, mixed with the strange smell from the depths of the forest, making people feel a little uneasy.
"Gerlin, you're finally here." Wolf's voice sounded low and powerful under the dim light. He walked out of the house, holding a thick wooden stick in his hand. His cloak swayed in the wind, and his solid and strong body was vaguely visible underneath.
"Wolf." Gerlin smiled slightly. Although he was a little nervous, he knew that trading with this man was his only way to obtain rare materials. "I hope we can reach an agreement as soon as possible."
Wolff nodded and led Gerlin into the cabin. The room was dimly lit, with a few mysterious runes hanging on the walls, and the air was filled with a smell of herbs and dirt. "Please sit down." Wolff pointed to an old wooden table, which was filled with various minerals and strange plants.
"The materials I need you to process are the droppings of the dead bird and the star alloy." Gerlin said bluntly, his eyes wandering among those strange materials, secretly calculating their uses in his mind.
"The droppings of the dead bird?" Wolf pondered for a moment, his expression slightly complicated, "That is not an ordinary commodity. Its effect is quite mysterious, and many people are willing to risk their lives to obtain it. However, I happen to have a few here, but the price is not cheap."
"I understand," Gerlin nodded, taking out a small bag from his arms, which contained the metal coins he had carefully saved. "I can pay, but I hope you can give me a reasonable price."
Wolf reached out and took the small bag, tapping it with his fingers. "I appreciate your sincerity, but I want you to know that the droppings of the dead bird have always been in great demand in my hands, and the current market price has risen to an unprecedented high."
"I also know that we still need star alloy." Gerlin's voice was a little hurried. "I hope you can be flexible on this point. I am willing to give you a little more metal coins as compensation."
Wolff was slightly stunned, his eyes wandering over Gerlin's face, as if assessing his sincerity. He slowly put down the small bag, crossed his hands in front of his chest, as if thinking. After a moment, he finally spoke: "Star alloy is more expensive, and some foundries rely on this stuff to make powerful weapons. Have you considered the properties and requirements of the alloy?"
"Of course, I understand that Star Alloy is an extremely rare and powerful material, which is why I want it." Gerlin expressed his point clearly, his eyes firm and his face showing a hint of determination, "I need it to support my research."
"Research?" Wolf raised his eyebrows slightly, with a hint of interest on his lips. "This is a high-risk project. Are you ready to bear the consequences? This alloy, if used improperly, may lead to unpredictable consequences."
Garlin hesitated slightly, then nodded firmly: "I understand the nature of the adventure, but I am absolutely sure. This is one of the most important explorations in my life, I must have it."
Wolf looked at him seriously, as if he was considering the courage and determination of this young man. After a long while, he slowly said, "Well, since you are so determined, I can give you a relatively reasonable price. But I want to remind you that the excrement of dead birds has its price in my hands."
"Go ahead, I'm willing to listen." Gerling prepared himself mentally, his heartbeat slightly faster. At this moment, he realized that this transaction was not just a simple exchange of materials, but also an opportunity for future adventures.
"I need thirty metal coins for the dead bird's feces and star alloy." Wolff was direct and straightforward, with a cunning light flashing in his eyes. "However, I need you to promise that these materials will only be used for legal purposes. I don't want my name to be involved in any disaster."
"Of course, I will abide by this agreement." Gerling responded without hesitation. It is undeniable that he was full of expectations for this deal. He moved the small bag in his hand forward again, as if he was pinning his hopes for the future on it. Wolf took the bag and immediately took out a small wooden box from under the table. After opening it, the black excrement of the dead bird and the glimmering star alloy were neatly placed inside.
"These are the materials you need. I have carefully selected them. I don't want you to be disappointed." Wolff pulled a smile from the corner of his mouth, and his expression seemed to be more serious.
"Thank you, Wolf." Gerling took the wooden box carefully, feeling a little relieved in his heart.
As he was about to turn around and leave, a strange low roar came from outside the house. Wolff frowned slightly and looked out the window, as if trying to spy on something. At this moment, several shadows appeared faintly in the darkness, sneaking in like a nightmare.
"Did you hear that?" Wolf asked vigilantly, his face turning serious in an instant.
"I heard it..." Gerlin's heart suddenly accelerated, and he secretly felt an uneasy breath approaching them.
"Hurry, hide!" Wolff whispered, and quickly opened one of the small doors, pushed Gerling in, and then quickly closed it and pulled the wooden bolt. The room instantly fell into silence, with only the two people's nervous heartbeats echoing.
Gerlin's palms were sweating, and he could only hear Wolff's low breathing. They held their breath and tried to catch the slightest movement outside. Almost in an instant, several low and strange roars came from outside, and the shadow seemed close enough to be touched.
