Necromancer: A New Era

Chapter 38 Arrangement from Fate

Tang Yue set out on his journey alone on the vast land. The sun rose and the moon set, and a whole day passed. He did not encounter many large-scale orc troops, but only occasionally encountered small forces, which were all destroyed by his skeleton warriors' swords. However, when the afternoon sun fell the next day, he came to a quiet town, and fate seemed to have arranged a greater test for him.

At the end of the town, a large orc army came into view. A rough estimate was that there were at least 200 of them. Tang Yue observed them from a distance, weighing his options in his mind. Just as he was hesitating and considering whether he should temporarily retreat, an unexpected discovery made his heart beat faster.

A group of beastmen cavalrymen were escorting a human woman slowly towards them. The familiar figure was Ariel, who had been separated from him for a short time. Her appearance was like a flash of lightning that broke the peace in Tang Yue's heart.

"Damn it!"

Tang Yue felt a strong sense of self-blame. He had thought that his mental strength was exhausted and following Ariel would only increase the danger. However, he did not expect that his departure would not bring her peace, but instead let her fall into the hands of the enemy.

As night fell, the earth was shrouded in a mysterious black veil. Tang Yue knew that this was the best time for him to act. He took a deep breath and carefully sneaked into the orc camp, with only one firm thought in his mind - no matter what, he must rescue Ariel from this darkness.

Tang Yue used the skeleton warriors to attract the attention of some orcs, and then quietly approached the tent where Ariel was imprisoned. He carefully cut open the tent and was relieved to see that Ariel was safe and sound.

Just as he was about to leave with Ariel, a huge orc leader walked into the tent. Tang Yue immediately hid himself and waited for an opportunity.

The orc leader approached Ariel and reached out to touch her face. Tang Yue took the opportunity to rush out and stabbed the orc leader with a sword. His enhanced body was not weaker than that of a warrior of the same level, but the orc leader reacted quickly, turned around to avoid the attack, and started a fierce battle with Tang Yue.

Tang Yue fought hard, but the orc leader was strong and gradually gained the upper hand. At the critical moment, Tang Yue used vision deprivation, and stabbed the orc leader's vitals with his sword when he lost consciousness, but the orc leader was very sensitive to danger and dodged the stab with a backward step. Seeing that the stab was dodged, Tang Yue turned the power in his hand and chopped down, blood splattered, and the long sword chopped on the orc leader's thick chest. The orc leader felt pain and reached out to grab the long sword. Tang Yue gathered his strength and kicked out, instantly repelling the orc leader.

Tang Yue didn't have time to catch his breath, so he took Ariel's hand and fled the camp in the chaos. Under the cover of night, they kept running until they were far away from the orcs.

After recovering from the deprivation of vision, the orc leader angrily threw away the sword in his hand, and without caring about the wounds on his body, he yelled and summoned everyone to start chasing.

Tang Yue ran wildly while holding Ariel who had already woken up. Seeing Ariel wake up, he could not help but remind her: "Don't move, we have to escape quickly!"

Ariel immediately understood the situation and began to mobilize her magic power to cast the 4th-level wind spell Blessing of Wind to reduce Tang Yue's weight and increase his running speed.

With the help of wind magic, he soon shook off the pursuers, but he did not dare to relax and kept running.

Ariel looked at the person who held her and saved her twice. The familiar feeling kept lingering in her heart, and she couldn't help but ask: "Ming Yin, is that you?"

She clearly felt the man's tremor, and said in surprise, "It's really you!"

Tang Yue stopped while running, put Ariel down, took off his mask, and revealed his face: "Ming Yin is dead, my name is Tang Yue now!"

Ariel didn't care and rushed over to hug Tang Yue: "I don't care if your name is Ming Yin or Tang Yue, I'm so happy to see you again."

Although she was very happy, Ariel burst into tears. She thought of the sudden news that Ming Yin and his master Hekris had rebelled and assassinated Master Field, one of the three holy pillars of mankind, and also killed the principal of the Imperial Capital Academy and another holy magician who came to help. Ariel didn't believe it at all. She hid her identity and kept looking for him, but there was no news. She went back to her family after going through hardships to seek help. As soon as she got home, she heard another heartbreaking news that her father was going to fight a fatal battle with the orcs. She secretly went to the front line. The experience of the past few days made her physically and mentally exhausted. She narrowly escaped death several times, but fortunately, people kept rescuing her. Yesterday, two family warriors even risked their lives to fight for her survival.

Tang Yue looked at Ariel who was holding him, listened to her sobbing, and could not bear to disturb her. She must be scared, as the experiences of the past few days were too cruel for a 14-year-old girl like her.

After a long time, Ariel finally stopped feeling sad. She blushed and stepped back, whispering, "Why are you here? You saved me several times."

"I participated in the decisive battle and followed the human army's retreat. I met you just after we separated."

Ariel seemed to have thought of something and felt even more depressed.

Tang Yue patted her shoulder and said, "Let's go quickly. We still have a long way to go. It's too dangerous here."

"Ok!"

Tang Yue and Ariel continued to move forward, crossing mountains and forests.

On the way, they encountered some wild beasts and monsters, but they were all easily dealt with by Tang Yue.

During the arduous journey, the two supported each other and their feelings gradually warmed up.

Finally, they came to a safe place and Tang Yue decided to take a rest here.

Ariel leaned against a tree, looking at Tang Yue, gratitude and a hint of affection in her eyes.

"Thank you, Tang Yue. If it weren't for you, I don't know if I would be alive today."

Tang Yue smiled and shook his head. "You're welcome. This is what I should do. Besides, I don't want to see you get hurt."

Ariel was slightly stunned, and a blush appeared on her face, "Tang Yue...you are so nice to me."

Tang Yue's heart trembled and he subconsciously avoided her. I just can't bear to see you get hurt.

In the hazy night, Ariel stared at Tang Yue, her eyes as deep as lake water hiding a myriad of thoughts. She opened her red lips slightly, and her voice seemed to travel through the darkness of time and space: "What happened in the Mage Tower that day? Why did the Empire want you?"

Tang Yue began to describe the secrets of the Mage Tower in detail, his voice flowing slowly in the silent night. Ariel listened, her hands clenched involuntarily, as if she could feel the thrill that she had never experienced. Could the demons have invaded this land so quietly?

"How are you going to proceed?" she asked softly, her tone full of concern.

Tang Yue's eyes became serious: "The orcs have broken through Tumubao, and their iron hooves will probably trample the imperial capital soon. The power of the orc king is beyond the human camp's ability to contend with. Our only way out is to abandon the Kasmoor Empire, migrate south, and after merging with the Southern Alliance Empire, form a new line of defense with the elves and dwarves to jointly resist the orcs' frenzy."

Ariel's heart trembled slightly. She thought of her father who was far away in her hometown, the most important person in her life. She lowered her eyes and whispered, "Maybe I need to go home first before I can go south with you."

"It's okay," Tang Yue comforted softly, "On this way to the south, the orc troops are targeting several cities in the northwest province. You don't need to worry."

Love and reluctance intertwined in Ariel's heart. She raised her head and looked at Tang Yue deeply: "You must take good care of yourself. I will go south to find you."

Tang Yue took out a communication token from his space ring. It was a unique way of communication in the Apocalypse Continent. Although it could not convey words, it could guide each other's direction. He handed it to Ariel with a firm look: "Take it, and you can come to the Southern Alliance Empire to find me when the time comes."

"Yes!" Ariel held the token tightly, as if she was holding the bond of her future with Tang Yue.

Tang Yue's figure gradually faded away in the night. He ran towards the direction of the spiritual fluctuations, as if pursuing the call of some destiny. Ariel stood there, watching him leave, her heart filled with reluctance and determination. She knew that she could not go with him, because she had more important responsibilities to bear. She had to go home to confirm her father's safety, and then she could go south to pursue her lover without any worries.

"Wait for me," she vowed silently in her heart, "I will definitely come to find you!"
