Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 113 Guardians of the Galaxy
It was a barren world.
Yet, there is a cave between the rugged rocks, and it is a home, the home of some creature.
This strange, unusual biped has been on this planet for a long time.
It lay outside the cave, motionless. Surrounding it were several spider-like creatures, surrounding the creature they had knocked down and sniffing it.
What could this thing possibly be? the spider-like creature pondered.
This thing is moving!
The spider-like creature scurried back as the bipedal creature rose to its feet.
He took a moment to take in his surroundings, blinking, before realizing after a moment that this was not the same cave he remembered from last time.
Vision found himself not knowing where he was at the moment.
At the same time, in the outer space of the distant Milky Way, in the endless void, a spaceship was heading towards its destination.
Inside the ship, music plays. Classic Earth music from the 20th century, from old pop to jazz beats, soul, and rock.
"Ugh, Quill!"
"what happened?"
"Change to some more upbeat music, this dreary shit is too loud."
"So what do you want to hear?"
"How the hell should I know! So just pick the more optimistic one."
"I've got one in mind."
Over the speakers, funky string and percussion began playing, followed by a classic Philadelphia string arrangement.
"Ah, I find this most delightful."
"Me too, Drax!"
"I'm Groot!"
"Hey, Captain."
Peter Quill, now better known as Star-Lord, looks behind him from the driver's seat.
"What's wrong, Kraglin?"
Kraglin stepped forward, a data-slate in his hand.
"Found something," Kraglin said. "Found an old ship. Really old by the looks of it."
"This will work for us, won't it?" Rocket Raccoon asked rhetorically.
"Unlike any ship I've ever seen, it's probably floating in space with a broken drive," Kraglin said.
Rocket was now very interested and quickly asked, "Where is this abandoned ship you mentioned?"
"Not far, dozens of kilometers away."
"Well, let's see what this ship is all about," Quill said as he steered the Benatar toward their new destination.
As he approached the abandoned ship, Quill could hardly imagine how damaged the craft was, as if it had been floating in space for thousands of years.
"Oi, what kind of ghost ship did you find, Kraglin?"
"It does look like a ghost ship," Rocket Raccoon muttered.
"I'm Groot!"
"Don't do this, Groot," Gamora said.
"I'm Groot!"
The small salvage operation was quick, and the abandoned craft was small enough to fit inside the Benatar's hold.
Star-Lord looked at the badly damaged ship and asked, "Do you know what ship this is?"
Rocket Raccoon pouted, "Old fashioned stuff."
Gamora stood aside, squinting at the ship, while Mantis looked at it with wide eyes and curiosity.
Drax surveyed the ship in his own way, tapping the metal hull with his knife.
"How old do you estimate this ship is?" Kraglin asked Rocket.
"4000 years." Rocket Raccoon replied.
"I'm surprised it hasn't fallen apart after all these years," Gamora muttered.
"Indeed." Star-Lord walked around the engine and suddenly stumbled back to where he was as a ramp door came loose and fell to the ground.
"Quill!" Gamora and Drax quickly gathered around him and asked nervously, "What happened?"
"I didn't even touch the damn thing," Star-Lord muttered, nodding to Drax and Gamora, who helped him up.
"What is that?" Mantis Girl asked loudly as she approached the thing that fell from the boat.
"Be careful, Mantis," Drax shouted to her.
The wide-eyed girl tentatively held up a boxy object.
"This is a head." Mantis Girl said loudly.
"A head?" Rocket repeated. "Throw it over here."
The mantis girl threw it to the raccoon, who picked up the head and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"Robots?" Kraglin said, looking into the interior of the ship. "Are there robots piloting this ship?"
"Do you think you can make it work?" Gamora asked the raccoon.
Rocket Raccoon squinted at the numbers on the back of the robot's skull, then said confidently, "I'll work some magic to make it work, just wait and see."
……
This was a sad and difficult time for the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially for Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon.
Yondu’s death still weighs heavy on both Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon’s minds, for very similar and different reasons.
To Star-Lord, it was obvious that Yondu was like a father to him.
Many years ago, Ego explored the universe out of loneliness, trying to find intelligent life other than himself. In the end, he achieved this goal, but was disappointed with the intelligent life he found. He believed that these inferior creatures were not qualified to coexist with him in a unified world.
After that, Ego traveled the galaxy for many years, planting seeds on alien planets to expand his territory, hoping to expand all existences under his control as a living planet. In order to increase the efficiency of expansion, he tried to create offspring similar to himself, so Ego had children with other species on many planets, including Star-Lord, who was also his biological son.
Years ago, he hired Yondu to go to various planets and hand over his children to him to see if they could help him with his galactic expansion plans, but because none of them had the godly abilities he required, they were all killed.
Star-Lord is the first and last child to inherit the Celestial gene. Yondu later discovered Ego's true identity, so when he took young Peter Quill away from Earth, he decided not to give him to Ego, but to leave him in the Marauders to be raised. From then on, Yondu took care of Star-Lord like a father.
Raccoon has his own thoughts on the matter, and he keeps thinking back to the time he and Yondu spent together.
Surprisingly, Drax is the most empathetic, silently supporting both companions in his own way.
Gamora has also been supporting the two in her own way. She often appears beside Star-Lord and Raccoon to let them know that they have someone they can talk to.
Groot being Groot, shows he cares in his own gruff way.
Surprisingly, the person Star-Lord and Raccoon find the most comfort in is Kraglin. Aside from Star-Lord, Kraglin knows Yondu best, and after Yondu's funeral, they spend many evenings together talking about Yondu.
Another more pleasant surprise is that Nebula also occasionally sends messages to her sister Gamora. Although this will be a difficult and awkward road, Nebula is willing to mend the relationship between the two. Gamora has changed a lot since she first joined the team.
Everything is going in a good direction.
