Knight with Wand

Chapter 2 Slaves

The next day.

After a night of cold wind, Li Ang, or rather, Leon, who had barely fallen asleep, woke up with a loud scream and cry.

He rubbed his sleepy eyes, sat up and looked at the source of the quarrel.

Many mercenaries stood outside the cage at some point.

These Kantadar soldiers were guarding a man with a sword and a white bird pattern on his military robe. He was obviously a higher-ranking man, who might be an officer or noble of Kantadar. The man looked at the quarrel in the cage with impatient eyes.

Two soldiers roughly lifted up a woman in the cage and tried to drag her outside. A young man shouted angrily and grabbed her tightly, kicking and beating the mercenaries.

Looking closely, it was the brother and sister.

"You bastards! Let my sister go! Let her go! Let her go!!!" The young man's roar with red eyes was full of anger, but his helpless panic and crying could also be heard.

His sister had already burst into tears and could only beg her brother to let go with a broken voice and not to provoke the mercenaries to violence him.

The mercenaries of Kantadar obviously had no good temper. They threw the girl to the ground, one grabbed the boy's hair and pulled it back, and the other mercilessly raised his boots and kicked the boy to the ground.

(Uriah) "Damn pig!" The mercenary cursed foreign swear words and drew the armed sword at his waist in anger.

Leon's eyelids jumped as a conditioned reflex. Any modern earthling with a basic sense of morality would find it difficult to face such a scene without being moved, and the clear memory of the tragic death of the original owner's parents made him feel involuntary anger.

But reason warned him that he was just an unarmed boy at the moment and could do nothing.

His shoulder was pressed down by another hand. He turned his head and saw that the boy who held him down was the boy he met yesterday.

"Don't get beaten. We can't help him." Azerien advised Leon calmly.

The poor lady thrown on the ground was almost about to collapse. Seeing the mercenary's blade pointed at her last family, her eyes were blurred by tears. She cried and crawled to the mercenary's feet, grabbed his ankles, and begged the mercenary to forgive her relatives: ".Woo-no, no, don't hurt my brother, please, kind sir, I will go with you. I will go with you, don't hurt him, please."

The mercenary who drew his sword was blocked, and just wanted to reach out to grab the woman's hair in anger, but his rough behavior was stopped by his mercenary companion. Another mercenary tilted his head to signal the slave buyer outside, so the angry mercenary had to restrain his violence for the time being.

He sheathed the blade again, then grabbed the woman's arm with both hands and pulled her up, and continued to pull her out.

"Sister, you bastards of Kantadar! Ah, ah, ah!" The boy coughed up blood after struggling to get up. The boy, who was already overwhelmed by hatred, roared and rushed forward again.

The mercenary in the middle swung his fist and hit the boy, but he didn't expect that the other party would dodge it by lowering his head.

The boy's body fell directly into the arms of the mercenary. Leon saw that his hands, which were tightly bound by shackles, actually grabbed the hilt of the mercenary's waist swiftly.

Unfortunately, the mercenary raised his hand and held the sword firmly without panic. At the same time, he turned sideways and raised his right leg to knee the boy in the abdomen.

The armor caused a bang, and the heavy blow knocked the boy over. His scarred body was kicked and curled up on the ground.

His weak body could no longer withstand the excitement of blood and qi. The mercenary stepped forward and kicked him mercilessly, and this time the boy was completely unconscious.

"No! Please don't hit him. My Lord, please." Outside the cage, the heartbroken sobbing of the boy's sister was dragged farther and farther away.

(Uriah) "Little bastard, if you are not worth some money, I will cut you into pieces." The mercenary spat at the boy who fell unconscious after being hit hard. He was in no mood to continue to entangle, and left the cage cursing.

Finally.

The surroundings fell into a depressing silence again.

The captives fell back to the ground with numb or sympathetic eyes. No one could help him, and no one could help themselves. People have become accustomed to such a tragic experience.

What's more, to some extent, the boy was already luckier than most captives, because most of the people here had lost all their families in the previous massacre.

Seeing that the mercenary finally walked away, Leon sighed, stood up and came to the unconscious boy, squatted down and simply checked his injuries.

The mercenary's beating left bruises on the boy's body, but fortunately there was no fatal injury. The sturdy boy was breathing evenly in the coma.

Leon reached out and turned him over, letting the unconscious boy lie on his side.

But there was nothing more he could do.

When the unconscious boy woke up again, it was already afternoon.

The boy opened his red eyes, his throat was hoarse and filled with grief and anger like a beast. He struggled to get up again, but the pain in his chest and abdomen made him clench his teeth and his body twitched.

The pain instinctively made the boy curl up tighter, and the sad howl gradually turned the powerless anger into sobbing.

Leon looked at the boy who buried his face in the ground and trembled all over, and had to remain silent. If it were his own words, no pale words could comfort him at this moment.

It took a long time, so long that even the boy's low sobbing gradually stopped.

It was getting dark, and it was time for the mercenaries to feed the prisoners every day. This time, Leon did not react as slowly as he did yesterday. He stood up and picked up the food promptly.

The half piece of food that the boy named Azerien gave him yesterday could not last until now. Perhaps it was because of the memory of eating delicious food every day before crossing over that he felt hungry.

I don’t know if it was because of the lack of people, or the amount of food was just thrown by the mercenaries at random. The rations thrown in this time were a little more than the number of people in the cage.

Leon picked up a piece and looked back at the boy who lost his sister. The other party was still curled up in the corner and motionless, so he took another piece from the ground.

Walking back to the corner, Leon put the extra dry food in front of the boy with lifeless eyes, and then sat aside and ate it by himself.

When he finished eating the dry food that was as unpalatable as rough sawdust, he still didn’t see the boy with empty eyes make any moves, like a puppet without a soul.

“If you want to starve to death here, you will never see your sister again.” Leon couldn’t help but persuade him.

But the boy still didn’t move.

Leon sighed helplessly, thinking that he had no ability to speak well, "Since you don't want to eat, I won't be polite. I don't want to stay in the cage forever."

After saying that, he reached out to grab the dry food. The days of eating delicious fish and meat before crossing over were still in front of him. At this moment, his eyes were dizzy. Even if this dry food was unpalatable, it was better than being hungry.

I don't know which words stimulated the boy. Before Leon's hand touched the food in front of the boy, he was suddenly snatched away by the other party.

The boy grabbed the dry food, his knuckles were tightly buckled, and his face looked like he was alive. He ate the food in his hand with a ferocious face.

Seeing this, Leon shrugged his shoulders. It seemed that he couldn't have an extra meal.

The boy wolfed down the food, then sat up with difficulty and pain, staring at Leon.

".?" Leon was a little puzzled by his stare.

The young man was silent for a while, then slowly approached, lowered his voice and gritted his teeth and asked: "You said you don't want to stay in the cage forever. Do you have a way to escape?"

Azerian, who was close to the side, seemed to hear his words vaguely, and his eyes looked over involuntarily.

Leon then understood what the young man was stimulated by. It turned out that the other party thought he had something to say.

"I don't want to be a slave, but I can't escape now." Leon could only shake his head at the young man with regret.

Seeing the young man's eyes gradually disappointed, Leon frowned and added: "As long as you are still alive, there will always be a chance to get out."

The young man slowly lowered his head, he looked at the dirty ground under his feet, and after a long time he said in a muffled voice: "As long as you are still alive."

The young man dragged his scarred body to the corner of the fence next to Leon.

Leon looked at him in silence and suddenly asked: "My name is Leon, what should I call you?"

".Lohak." The sturdy young man answered in a deep voice.

Leon looked at the scars all over his sturdy body and advised him kindly: "Don't do stupid things like that again."

".What?"

"Do you want to be beaten to death by them before you have a chance to escape? At least don't let yourself get hurt any more." Leon looked at the scars on his body and said: "If you die here, who will save your sister in the future?"

After hearing this, Lohak looked at Leon deeply, and nodded silently without refutation.

Leon sighed for the nth time and looked down at his hands that were tightly bound by shackles.

It's easy to say nice words, but the reality is still desperate. The opportunity that can only be obtained by waiting is so ethereal. Let alone other things, it's a problem to get rid of the shackles on his hands.

Leon closed his eyes helplessly and continued to rest.

In any case, just like what he warned others, before the possible opportunity comes, you must keep enough physical strength and spirit to survive.
