#983 - The source of the vibration
The purebred Scotch whiskey from the Black family's collection was indeed a fine thing. It was spicy upon entry but had an elegant and sweet aftertaste, with subtle hints of toffee and honey.
But for children drinking alcohol for the first time, its aftereffects were indeed a bit too strong.
Harry remembered being overwhelmed by a lamb chop that seemed to have been salted at least three times, numbing his tongue. He then grabbed his glass and drank it all in one go, and after that, he remembered nothing.
"Harry! Harry! Are you alright?" Sirius asked with a worried expression, supporting him while taking the purple hangover potion from Vincent with one hand.
"Ugh—" Harry slowly opened his eyes shortly after drinking it.
"Thank Merlin, you're okay."
After waking up, Harry remembered what had happened and lowered his head like a child who had done something wrong. "I'm sorry, Godfather, I made you worry."
Sirius gently patted him on the back. "No need to apologize, as long as you're alright."
"Rumble—" The annoying vibration came again.
Cedric was careless and didn't hold the mushroom soup steady.
Fortunately, only a little spilled, but the soup dripped right onto Cho's long dress beside him.
"Sorry, Cho."
"It's okay."
Cedric quickly pulled out his wand and cleaned the stain off her dress.
Vincent put down his glass, which was half-empty. "You guys continue, I'll go see what's going on."
Even though they were preparing for winter, this frequency was too high.
This time it was just a little spilled soup, but next time, maybe the whole bowl would fall and someone would get burned.
Hermione also put down her grilled salmon. "I'll go with you."
They had spent a full two and a half years in the Forbidden Forest, so they could navigate any dangerous place without problems.
The twins turned their heads with grins, looking at Ron, who had a chicken leg in his mouth.
"Ronnie, little darling, your most feared little spiders are about to be in big trouble. Aren't you especially happy now?"
Hearing the word "spider," Ron shuddered subconsciously.
He pretended to be calm and took the large chicken leg out of his mouth. "I'm not afraid of those furry things."
"Ooh~"
Ron raised his little head and calmly bit off a large piece of chicken leg, chewing slowly.
"Rumble—"
"Gulp—" The slight tremor in the ground startled him, and he swallowed the chicken leg meat that he hadn't chewed much.
The twins laughed unkindly, seeing his uncomfortable expression.
"Don't be afraid, Ronnie, little darling, the little spiders' nests are far from here~ Hahahaha~"
Amidst the mockery of his "good brothers," Ron continued to eat as if nothing had happened.
On the other side, Vincent and Hermione, who hadn't gone far, smiled knowingly when they heard the twins' laughter.
"Who do you think it is, Cedric or Ron?"
"Ron, probably." Vincent held out his hand to Hermione. "With Cho there, they'll show a little respect."
Hermione took his hand and followed him slowly down the slope.
If they continued forward for a few more minutes, they would reach the Acromantulas' nest. The closer they got, the more fallen leaves there were on the ground, and the occasional tremors were also greater.
When the two of them walked hand in hand into a relatively wide nest, they found that several adult Acromantulas inside were not out foraging, and even huddled together to protect the palm-sized young.
The second nest was the same situation. After more than a dozen consecutive nests, both of them felt that something was not quite right.
If the tremors in the Forbidden Forest were not caused by the Acromantulas, what could it be?
Hogwarts and its surroundings were equipped with anti-earthquake magic, so even a magnitude ten earthquake outside would not affect the inside.
Could it be that Hagrid secretly raised another nest of some big darlings?
"Could it be the winged horses?"
"They seemed to be drinking whiskey when we came earlier. If they got drunk…"
Vincent paused and walked towards the source of the tremors. "Madam Maxime raised them too strong, it's not impossible for them to cause such a commotion."
Hermione relaxed her vigilance slightly. "As long as it's not some foreign species, the Forbidden Forest already has a rich variety of species. If there are more big guys that can cause earthquakes, it will completely disrupt the ecological balance here."
In order to balance the number of Acromantulas, Jormungandr had gained three circles of weight in two years. If it was a species without natural enemies, the environment of the Forbidden Forest would definitely be in chaos.
Vincent looked uncertainly at the fallen leaves that had been shaken down in front of him. "Hagrid should still be busy taking care of his Blast-Ended Skrewts, he wouldn't have the mind to raise anything else."
Hermione squeezed his little hand. "Hopefully."
The two quickly walked through a path covered with fallen leaves, and felt several stronger tremors along the way.
"It shouldn't be far." Vincent held the alder wand in his hand, protecting her behind him.
"Roar!" The sudden roar made the two of them tense up instantly.
"Dragon?"
"How could there be such a thing in the Forbidden Forest?"
The two didn't have time to think and started running towards the source of the sound.
Suddenly, a more violent tremor came from the ground, and Hermione stumbled.
Vincent picked her up and aimed the Leme ring on his hand at his legs.
The flowing mithril quickly wrapped his shoes from the inside of the ring, and solidified into a pair of metal boots in the blink of an eye.
The vents on the soles of the shoes did not make any noise, and the activated flying boots carried the two of them slowly into the air.
"It seems there's more than one dragon."
Hermione followed his gaze and could vaguely see a few wisps of black smoke rising from the distant forest.
She hugged Vincent's neck tightly. "Let's go over there quickly, their breath will cause a fire!"
The vents on the soles of the flying boots instantly became larger, and the ejected airflow stirred up a large number of fallen leaves.
The terrifying acceleration made Hermione close her eyes subconsciously, but soon she felt nothing.
She opened her eyes and found a layer of magic barrier in front of her. The distant scenery was changing rapidly like a slideshow.
In just a few breaths, the two could clearly see four dragons of different breeds.
They seemed to be bound by something, constantly struggling.
And around them, there was a group of wizards in dark red robes, desperately suppressing them.
"This is…" Vincent slowed down and hovered behind a large tree.
Hermione noticed that the robes of the wizards had the same pattern. The style looked a little familiar, as if she had seen it in the 'Encyclopedia of Magical Careers'.
She suddenly thought of something and leaned her small face to Vincent's ear. "They are dragon tamers."
"Dragon tamers? Why would they—" Vincent understood instantly. "Testing courage, indeed, there's nothing that tests courage more than a dragon."
Hermione gasped. "These four dragons are…"
"Yes, they are the first task for the champions."
